Accomplished Carnatic Vocal musician for over 15 years. Grandson of Tamil Composer Brahmashri Papanasam Sivan

Commenced music training at a very young age with my mother Dr.Rukmini Ramani (daughter of Papanasam Sivan). Subsequently was under the tutelage of Dr.S.Ramanathan. Learnt from Calcutta K.S.Krishnamurthy & Bombay Ramachandran. A disciple of Palghat K.V.Narayanaswamy for over 17 years. Presently learning from Vidwan Sri.P.S.Narayanaswamy.

·           Performed in all major Sabhas all over India.

·           Performed in Singapore, Malaysia & Mauritius in 1995.

·           Performed at the Thyagaraja Aradhana Festival at Cleveland, Ohio in April 1996 and April 1997. Also performed in the US on a 3-month tour in April 1997.

·           Visited Hong Kong, Singapore & Malaysia on a lecture-demonstration cum workshop tour in May 2000. Topic of lec-dem “Origin, Basics and Contributions of Carnatic Music & Works of Papanasam Sivan”.

·           Visited Muscat in October 2000 to participate in the Papanasam Sivan Day celebrations.

·           Performed at the Cleveland Thyagaraja Aradhana festival in April 2001.

·           ISAI PEROLI conferred by Karthik Fine Arts in December 1999.

·           Youth Excellence award by Maharajapuram Vishwanatha Iyer Trust in 1998.

·           Awarded Isai Bharathi in August 1994.

·           Best Vocalist award by Indian Fine Arts Society in December 1994.

·           Best Raga Alapana award by The Music Academy, Madras in December1994.

·           Yuva Kala Bharathi awarded by Bharat Kalachar in December 1994.

·           Awarded Best Junior Vocalist award by The Music Academy, Madras in December 1993.

An accomplished Mridangam player. Learnt from Kumbakonam Sri.Rajappa Iyer.

Performed as a mridangam artist and accompanied senior vidwans on various platforms.

Grade ‘A’ artist of  All India Radio, Chennai.

Accompanied by senior artists on the violin, mridangam and other percussion instruments.

Performed on Chennai Doordarshan, Sun TV, Raj TV, Star Vijay etc.

Composed, edited and released a CD-ROM ON PAPANASAM SIVAN at the Cleveland Thyagaraja Aradhana Festival in 2001. CD Rom contains life history of Sivan, rare audio and visual clippings of Sivan and over 50 songs by popular artists.

Cassettes Released – Audio cassettes released by Sangeetha Cassettes (Sunaadha Sugandha), Saraagam Cassettes, AVM Double Album and HMV. Sunaadha Sugandha released as CD by Sangeetha.

Active Committee member of Papanasam Sivan Rasikar Sangam. Responsible for fixing and coordinating of artists and programs.

Convened and conducted Music Forum of Papanasam Sivan Rasikar Sangam every week for 1 year by arranging lectures/talk on Sivan’s contributions by eminent personalities.

n     Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical Engg.) from Anna University College of Engineering, Chennai.

n     Worked as Deputy Manager, Materials in SPIC Heavy Chemicals Division, SPIC upto December 2000.

n     Presently pursuing a career in Music.
